Update: The competition is now closed. Thank you to all the entrants.

To celebrate the launch of GameMaker Studio, I’m giving away a copy of Studio valued at $300. For a chance to win, simply do one or both of these things on my social media channels:

Follow me on Twitter and retweet this linked tweet

Like my page “Myriad Online” on Facebook and share this linked post

Both actions will give you one entry into the draw, however you must have at least 20 followers on Twitter for that to count.

I will announce the winner at the end of this month, May 2012, and they will be contacted directly.

Congratulations to YoYo Games for this huge milestone, and good luck to all the entrants in my GM Studio giveaway!

Matthew

As I said earlier, I am looking forward to good articles.
That’s not to say that your previous articles are bad at all, but I was just expecting some GM content.

    Maybe, I shouldn’t say this -
But this appears to be a total publicity drive.
It’s great that you are giving away GM:Studio for free and I’ve nothing against you, but I feel that there should be more content on the blog before you start promoting it. You’ll receive a huge response, no doubt, and some of them (if not all) will become your permanent reader, but believe me they’ll be turned down by the small number of posts.

So, just some more good posts plz.

After all, who am I to say all this :)

This blog isn’t just about GameMaker, it’s also a personal blog. If this competition was about promoting the blog, I’d agree that more content would be vital, but it’s not. This is just an announcement post :)

Since the blog isn’t monetized in any way, there’s no real incentive for me to promote it yet, so I’m just posting content when I can and enjoying the discussion that results from that.

As an independent developer, I’m always trying out new marketing techniques, and this is no different. But it’s not just that, it’s about giving something back to the community, and having a bit of fun at the same time.

The detailed content posts are coming, but remember they take lots of effort to research and write, and I am already working on way too much at once while also maintaining an income! It’s a tough balancing act.

      Thanks for your comment!

    Bending_the_rules

Writing a blog takes time, I run a site, I know how difficult it is to spend time on writing a blog or a tutorial while balancing all the other chores. Studio is launched today, so they have a right to do publicity now, irrespective of how big the blog is.

Obviously Jason will continue writing on the blog and in future you will find many articles and blog with tutorials on this blog. This is not GM official blog, its a personal blog and it will take its time to mature and ripen.

Ripened Fruits are the sweeter. :)

I don’t have twitters and facebooks. Can I still get an entry for putting it in the #gmc topic? d:

Followed through on both steps for twitter and facebook, hope I win! Cant wait for Studio to be released… (after we keep ironing out all of these bugs)

  6.

Hooray, I don’t have Facebook OR Twitter! Good luck to everyone who does enter!
(nice blog btw, love the background picture, and sorry to hear about the Google thing. That was stupidly harsh of them.)

Only 1 giveaway? :| Lame. I think I’ll just pirate studio, it’s not exactly the most cheap thing (YYG are greedy pigs lol)

Please give to me. I live in Brazil and I have a dream of work on game development since I remember, and it would be of great help if you could give me this copy of GM:S. You have no idea on how much I would appreciate, how much it’s gonna to help me reach my goals… and how much I would be grateful to you for being the one who made it all possible. Thanks.
